WE SPECIALISE IN
So you’ve purchased your dream dress and more than likely it needs some adjustments or even design changes. As with any garment, if it wasn’t made to your exact measurements, then it will most probably need some slight or even major adjustments.
At Chalk, we have fully trained wedding dress seamstresses at hand. We’ve got all the tricks of the trade to make sure you feel confident and most importantly – comfortable on your big day. We have been practicing our skills for years to ensure you get the highest quality workmanship and service possible. Down to every last detail, our expert seamstresses will work on your wedding dress for as long as it is required to ensure your dress is perfect for you.
We recommend that you bring your dress to us as early as possible, preferably no later than 6 weeks prior to your wedding date. For your first fitting you would need to bring the shoes and any undergarments that you will be wearing on the day.
How many fittings will I need?
On your first fitting, we will pin your dress to perfection. keeping in mind you still want it practical and comfortable for the big day! We will also discuss any design changes that you might want to make, for example; adding or removing sleeves, re-shaping the neckline or adding embellishment. The alteration world is your oyster!
The number of fittings will depend on how complex the work is required on your dress, this will be advised on your first appointment. All fittings including the consultation are free of charge.
How much will the alterations cost?
The cost of wedding dress alterations varies depending on a couple of factors, this can be the style and construction of the dress, the amount of alterations required, and the complexity of the work. Dresses with lots of layers, or with lace detail / embellishment on the seams being altered can require more work and attention – which brings additional costs.
Who should I bring with me?
You are welcome to bring along a trusted relative or friend, as its always good to have a second opinion. It might also be a good idea to bring along the person who will be helping you get ready on the day, so that they can learn how to do the bustle and any other tricky bits on the big day.
